In Case of Fire
|
A. House Fires
|
- In the event that your home is on fire try to stay calm and follow your escape plan and leave IMMEDIATLEY.
- On your way out, try to close the doors behind you, however do not lock them. Closed doors can buy precious time for the fire department.
- Gather your family at your determined meeting spot outside the house and make sure everyone is accounted for.
- Call 911 from a neighbors home, or a cell phone, do not attempt to call from inside your house.
- When the fire department arrives on the scene be sure to let them know if there is anyone still in house, about any possible hazards in your home, and where the fire is located.
|
| B. Oven Fires |
- If your oven appears to have a fire inside it, stay calm , your oven is designed to retain heat.
- Call 911 right away.
- Leave the oven door CLOSED and do not turn on the vent above the oven until the fire is out.
|
C. Car Fires |
- Contrary to popular belief, a car fire can happen to you, whether your car is new or old is irrelevant.
- If in or outside your car you see or smell smoke or fire leave IMMEDIATLEY.
- Walk a safe distance away from the vehicle and call 911.
- Try to avoid standing in line with the front or rear bumpers.
- When the fire department arrives, make sure to advise them of any hazards in your car, ex. Propane tank.
